New Jersey Makers Day receives $2000 grant from Investors Foundation to increase the capacity of New Jersey libraries to provide free, high quality STEM experiences to their communities.
The New Jersey Makers Day (NJMD) non-profit organization recently received a $2,000 grant from Investors Foundation. The grant helps further NJMD’s mission of inspiring and activating libraries and other educational and community organizations to host STEM-based learning and events celebrating maker culture across the state on March 25-27, 2022.
Kate Jaggers, President of New Jersey Makers Day, states, “Each year approximately 150 educators benefit from professional development in current topics related to STEM education and maker-centered learning through New Jersey Makers Day workshops. The Investors Bank grant is vital to funding these workshop opportunities, as well as NJMD project grants for locations where there is unmet need. The focus of NJMD is on providing equitable access to rich STEM and maker experiences through community-embedded events primarily with public and school libraries and their community partners throughout the state.”
New Jersey Makers Day inspires libraries to create hands-on project-based science, technology, engineering, math, and creative learning events, storytimes and programs to increase critical thinking and literacy and promote life-long learning in communities throughout NJ. Libraries are trusted spaces, safe havens in their neighborhoods, free and local–establishing the ideal setting to attract families and provide accessible, positive experiences with STEM and activities that promote maker culture. .
There are over 200 locations hosting NJMD events this March 2022 in almost all 21 counties across New Jersey. To locate a site near you, check “Events” at https://njmakersday.org.
